I was approached by my man at Lucky Design + Media to hook up an illustration for a radio team that is out of Hartford, CN on HOT 93.7. It took a handful of revisions and a took a few to gain clarity on what we were going for but I think wer’e there. I guess we’ll see.

I landed a mural gig a little while ago. It is in this enormous basement of the Chi Omega sorority house on the UNC campus. The house is gorgeous but as usual I bit off a bit more than I could chew but I have been forging through with the help of the great Greg Davis. As hard as I pull on the hands of time, I can;t seem to get them to slow down at all. It is true. Nina Simone is turning 4 already. Every year I do an illustration of the girls and hook up their invite. I think I will make a tradition of drawing them around their birthday. I’m sure this plan will vary in degrees of excitement and embarassment….. but I will stay the course.

Mario at the Green Hill Center for NC Art hooked up a time lapse of the murals progression. We took a little longer than the time lapse lasted but it came out cool regardless. Check it out:

The Windows-Down crew got together as part of the Green Hill Center for NC Art show to put together a collaborative mural that will be put on display at the show. Five of the guys got down on it. Victor Knight, Matt Scofield, Ben Tuttle, Joe Giampino and myself. We got out there early and minus a flat tire, the day went off without a hitch. So yea, Tommy Hearns and J.D. Salinger? Seems random I know. I started doing a series of pencil portraits for a collection I was calling “Beautiful Losers”. The idea was to showcase people who had poured their heart and soul into their passion but fell short of winning the top spot. In a lot of cases these people inpired more people by continuing to dig their heels in and push hard, never giving up. Or in some cases…. giving up. Anyway, I am putting these into the Green Hill show …

There will be a wall in the Green Hill show that will showcase artwork on paper from the group. I have a few portraits that i will be showing. I just finished up an Obama jawny with that new outlining style that I have been playing with. I’ll post the other pieces as well. YOBAMA!

I have just finished up the full colors of a gig poster for a live band hip hop group called the Turbo Pro Project. The truly unique part of the band is the infusion of a banjo. It is good stuff. Check it out.

I have been back on the Wireless Developer hustle. I create a set of matching, themed illustrations and send them out for the world to wallpaper their phone with. Here are some St. Pattys frisky little gals.

I am introducing a new line of characters that will be gracing t-shirts, wallpapers of cellphones and where ever else my little critters may wander. I love these guys and keep a look out for a large collection of them to be set free to scamper about.

I was invited to showcase at a celebratory art exhibition to commemorate the innauguration of Barack Obama. I am extremely excited and have begun a hustle to push a brand new, rock solid piece in. I will be painting directly on wood and will be detailing the process (you know how I do). Stay tuned…

After a handful of different designs over the years we have boiled down the website to a bare bones approach. I like this idea. It gives John control over his content while still holding a strong online presence. I am going to push this concept on more clients who are looking to establish themselves online.

We went to an Obama fundraiser downtown last Wednesday. The organizers were looking for someone to donate some time and effort towards painting a trailer that they bring to events. It would be pulled around Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill in the in-between time. I decided to hook it up strong. I went on a painting binge that went from Saturday morning 10am all the way through 6:30 am the next morning. Cold as hell…raining, sleet. Get er done!

It’s been a long while since I focussed on my watercolors. I have put together a new set, got a stack of new paper, new brushes… and I’m back on the horse. This piece will be shown at the Art.Beats and Lyrics show in Charlotte.

I hooked this up for my little brother. He had just finished up his first year playing football for Central. I hooked it up from a Brian Urlacher base figure. The hands had to be added from a Jason Williams NBA figure. Yerp.

I hooked a flyer/poster for my boys over at Lucky Graphics. Me and my man Nate over there go way way back and it is always nice to check in and hook it up. Espcially when were going old school.

This was for the new Brooklyn Sene album produced by Blu. One thing lead to another and it didn’t work out. I am still partial to it though.
