Domesticated Vandalism
The natural progression of authentically interesting things always winds their way into the mainstream and ultimately into our living rooms. Graffiti has been on this long journey for some time now. The art-form will always live on the razors edge of a dichotomy living in two very different worlds. The authentic gutter-born vandalism world and the consumer-culture driven Walmart world. Surprisingly the authentic has continued to forge ahead and stay relevant regardless of being pillaged via countless capitalist ventures attempting to leverage the authentic in order to give the synthetic the “poochie treatment“.
Every now and then the balance is found between the two extremes and interesting things can happen. Check out these Fat Cap Chairs created by designer and artist Sander van Heukelom. I’m not exactly sure what kind of place these things would be able to live in comfortably but they look cool as hell.
As I was looking through the photos of these chairs I got to wondering if you could completely domesticate graffiti and Bed Bath & Beyond your house with graffiti oriented furniture and fixtures. Come to find out it wouldn’t be that hard at all.

love love love bed, bath and da bomb. I am such a nester this is right up my comfort zone…
damn! i love it! especially the room with the brick wall behind the bed … yowzah!
Marco
